Sleep Late (Blue)

English thoroughbred gelding, 1991
by Kuwait Beach

Breeder: Janet and Charles Cope, Stones Farm (England)
Owner: Ingrid Klimke

Blue is the most successful horse in my stable. As a seven year old, he won the World Championship for young event horses in Lion d'Angers. Our first huge competition was the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. Blue showed his quality and enormous heart again at the Olympics in Athens. We were finally on the medal winners' podium in 2005 with an individual bronze placing at the European Championships in Blenheim (GB) and then rewarded with the team championship at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen. Our greatest highlight was our first outing at the CCI**** Badminton where we were second. What can I say about Blue? I simply adore him.

He is unique and has tremendous ability. His stamina at the gallop is a dream. He is a true thoroughbred! He is very good-natured and very much attached to his friends (both two and four-legged), always sensitive and careful with people, even with children. Blue has retired from sport and will enjoy his life with me, turned out on pasture. He will not be bored, however, as we have a new job for him: he will be a valuable hacking partner for my mother, Ruth, and for our daughter, Greta! His faithful companion, Carmen, still has much to learn from him and  finally, I have a perfect horse for hunting!
